Ultimate Guide to Page Arizona

Antelope-Canyon-Page-ArizonaQuick Guide To Page, Arizona

It amazes me how sometimes people living in Arizona for years don’t know about these attractions. If you are going through Northern Arizona make sure to make a stop here! These attractions are simply mind-blowing and a perfect spot to propose! If you want to get an idea of how my fiancé proposed click here. Trust me just by going there and taking in the view will blow you away!

How can you not stop and get to know Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon!

Where to stay

We wanted to stay within Page,Arizona itself since we were only going to be there for a day. We stayed at La Quinta Inn & Suites Page at Lake Powell and honestly it was a great decision. The stay included free continental breakfast it was actually a good breakfast too! The hotel was about $120 a night, it looked like it hadn’t been built too long ago either so that was nice! It was worth the money, plus it was located just minutes from both Horseshoe Bend and the Antelopes’ Tour agency. Oh, and did I mention that it had a small pool as well! So you can enjoy the sunset whilst taking a dip.

Now, we did take a look into Airbnb but for some reason, my fiancé said no, little did I know he had something planned!

Where to Eat

Not going to lie, we struggled with this. This is a small town so there are not really many options and we did want to eat at a nice restaurant since it was a special day for us. We did find some chain restaurants and we avoided them. Then suddenly we found a Tavern called State 48 which was surprisingly good! I wasn’t expecting it to be that good since it was a small town and there were barely options. We both ordered steaks and beer to celebrate our engagement!

What to do

So as I mentioned previously we only stayed for a night and that’s simply all you need. There are two main attractions in this town and you would think it would be more populated but it’s not.

Horseshoe Bend

If you haven’t gone yet, you need to plan to do a trip! It’s honestly one mind-blowing attraction, oh did I mention there’s no fee! I feel like this has to be one of the most photographed attractions in the USA at this point but then again there’s a lot of beautiful places! This place is about an hour away from the Grand Canyon but do keep in mind that the Grand Canyon has multiple rims. Horseshoe Bend is right off Highway 89 and it has amazing views! You cannot miss it, there’s going to be a dirt parking lot, we had to park outside because the lot was full.

Many people that don’t like hiking think you have to hike to get to see the Horseshoe but you don’t. It’s about 1 mile from where you park and it consists of a dirt pathway. I made the mistake of taking sandals because is the only thing that matched with my dress and my feet got sandy but it wasn’t that bad. There were so many people that had sandals anyways so you won’t be alone.

The perfect time to go and capture a memorable picture is a sunset. During April, the sunset was about 5:30 pm so we made sure to be there at the rim by 5 pm. Little did I know, that he had hired a photographer to take our engagement pictures at that moment. We had amazing lighting and now have wonderful memories.

I am going to say that it was pretty busy and we were rushing to make it on time, plus we had to park outside on the side of the road. So make sure you get there before sunset.

Tip: I always advise people to bring water anywhere in Arizona especially if is summer.

Antelope-Canyon-Lower-Antelope-Page-ArizonaAntelope Canyon

This has to be another place that is super popular on Instagram. What people don’t know is that there are two Antelopes, the lower and the upper. Many people go to the Lower Antelope Canyon because they like the idea of exploring a narrow canyon. To avoid the worst of the crowds, visit the canyon early or later in the day. We had our tour at 6 am and it was perfect for lighting, we thought it was going to be dark but nope we were wrong.  On the other hand, if you are a photographer and want to spend $195, I recommend doing the Upper Canyon.  It’s just a matter of preference but on both, you can take amazing pictures.

You are required to have a permit in order to have a tour of either Canyon since it is part of a Navajo Park. Our tour was about $40 each and it includes the tour and permit fee, for more information, click here. There are many companies that offer these tours so I just went with the one that had the best ratings.  Our tour lasted about 90 minutes and it was worth it. I recommend booking the earliest tour since you get to beat the crowd. If you beat the crowd, that means you have more time to enjoy the tour and take pictures which is a must! Our tour guide was amazing! She took pictures of us and showed us where the best pictures were shot.

Don’t forget to visit these two magical places! Hope you found these tips useful! Let me know how it goes for you!
